The rights of the data subjects with regard to their personal data

Chapter 3 of Law no. 1.565 of December 3, 2024 on data protection lists the rights available to each data subject when his or her personal data are processed.

In addition to the right to information, which requires the data controller to take appropriate measures to provide the data subject with any information and to facilitate the exercise of his or her rights, [For more information, refer to the factsheet Information to be provided to the data subjects], the data subject has 7 other rights enabling him or her to retain control of the data concerning him or her, namely:

  • the right of access to their data;
  • the right to rectification of their data;
  • the right to erasure of their data;
  • the right to object to the processing of their data;
  • the right to restriction of processing;
  • the right to data portability;
  • the right not to be subject to an automated individual decision.
